Absentee Voting

Absentee voting is available through the DuPage Election Commission, to a qualified registered voter who, on Election Day, will be unable to vote in person at the polls for one of the following reasons:
  • Absent from County (ex: college students)
  • Temporarily absent from the Country (ex: Military Personnel Serving Overseas)
  • Serving as a judge of election outside his / her precinct
  • Observing a religious holiday
  • Performing official election duties
  • Performing election law enforcement duties
  • Physically incapacitated (temporarily incapacitated)
  • Pre-trial detainee or called for jury duty

Vote by Mail
Illinois recently passed legislation enabling voters to initiate the absentee voting process by applying online on the Election Commission's website. The online application does not require the voter's signature and completely takes the place of the traditional hard copy application.

As soon as ballots are available (40 days prior to the election) a ballot and instructions will be mailed to the voters who have applied online on the Election Commission's website or submitted a completed hard copy application.
