[ACTIVE] Forum on Heroin Use

The Elmhurst Police Department with the cooperation of York High School, Immaculate Conception High School and Timothy Christian High School will be hosting a forum on Heroin use in our community at York High School, 355 W. St. Charles Road, on September 10, 2009, at 7:00 p.m.

Chief Steve Neubauer reports a noticeable increase in the use of heroin by suburban young people age 16-24. “This is a regional problem in the use of this dangerous drug. Elmhurst kids are at risk and we need to understand the signs, the dangers and how to best approach this as a community before we have a tragic result.”

On September 10th, we are asking parents and students to attend the forum. We will have speakers from the medical community, law enforcement and recovering heroin addicts.

Chief Neubauer said that we cannot “arrest our way” out of this problem. We need our community to understand the issue and support initiatives to keep our young people safe.
