Join the City of Elmhurst in celebrating Sustainability Day on October 26, 2022.
The City is excited to host local partners to help educate residents on sustainability efforts and what they can do to help the initiative.Sustainability Day

The Sustainability Day event will take place at the Elmhurst History Museum Education Center on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 from 11 a.m.  - 7 p.m. There will be presentations every hour throughout the day from various companies and City partners. Please register for the presentations you would like to attend by clicking on the Sign Up button below.  All of the presentations will be recorded and will be posted to Elmhurst TV.

Presenter Description Time
Conservation Foundation Do you have water issues, shade problems, or want to increase the habitat for birds in your yard? Learn how you can problem solve areas in your yard, get a native plant guide, and create an inviting home for pollinators. 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
City of Elmhurst Sustainability Efforts City of Elmhurst staff will discuss sustainability efforts, including WaterSmart and the importance of trees. 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Chicago Area Clean Cities Coalition Are you interested in learning more about electric vehicles? We will provide information on funding and rebate offers for electric cars. 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Elmhurst Public Library, Elmhurst District 205, Elmhurst University & Elmhurst Park District Civic partners present an overview on their organization's sustainability efforts.
 
 
2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
DuPage Water Commission DuPage water operations, sustainable water initiatives, water leak preventions, fostering water conservation and rain barrels. 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Republic Services Dos and Don'ts of curbside recycling. 4:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
SCARCE Reuse and the proper ways to declutter, ways to donate, and where to donate locally. Recycling items that can't be put at the curb, and ways to recycle while benefitting the community. 4:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
ComEd Learn about residential energy efficiency and ways you can cut back on energy-use and save on energy costs. Learn about the EE program and residential solar panels. 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
