BASIC (Essential) SERVICES

  1. PROVIDE WASTEWATER TREATMENT
    1. Operate and maintain a 60 million gallon per day wastewater treatment plant
    2. Maintain sixteen buildings on eighteen acres located on Route 83
    3. Meet State and Federal regulatory limits
    4. Provide solids handling and disposal for biosolids
    5. Quality assurance laboratory to provide direction for operations and data for monthly reports to IEPA
  2. PROVIDE POTABLE WATER PUMPING AND TREATMENT
    1. The division utilizes a completely automatic SCADA (supervisory control data acquisition computer) designed to operate the water supply
    2. Sixty bacteriological samples per month of the system
    3. Perform annual mineral and organic analysis of the water supply
    4. Test, monitor, and add chlorine to provide disinfection protection
    5. Operate and maintain three lake water pressure adjusting stations, three booster stations, and three elevated towers. Total storage of 15 million gallons. Total pumping capacity over 20 million gallons per day.
  3. SANITARY PUMP STATION
    1. Operate and maintain ten sanitary pumping stations designed to convey wastewater to the wastewater treatment plant
    2. Operate sophisticated electrical controls designed to match discharge flows with incoming flows to avoid solids settling or odors
    3. Maintain backup power supplies and flow instrumentation for documentation
  4. STORM WATER PUMPING
    1. Maintain and operate eight storm water pumping stations with a combined capacity of greater than 500 million gallons per day pumping
    2. Maintain and operate four storm water reservoirs located throughout Elmhurst
