On Monday, May 4, 2009, the City Council Orientation Handbook was distributed to the City Council. The handbook provides information on the following: Structure of Municipal Government; City Council Procedures and Practices; Conflicts of Interest, Ethics and Gift Ban; Freedom of Information Act; Zoning Administration and Land Use Controls; Map Amendments; Variations; Conditional or Special Use; Planned Development; Text Amendments; Pre-Annexation Hearings; and Appeal from Decision of Zoning Official. 

The City Council Orientation also included a PowerPoint Presentation. The presentation included an overview of the four Standing Committees and the policies and projects that will likely be considered by the Committees and City Council in the near future. Future policy and project considerstions for the Committee of the Whole were also noted. They include: Central Business District Improvements; Hahn Street Development Project; First Street and Addison Avenue Development Project; and the General Fund Budget and Financial Issues.
