The following list of organizations use volunteers for a variety of different tasks and events. Please contact each organization for specific information about volunteering at that organization.


Adult Christian Care: Bonnie Factor @ 832-1788

Open M-F 8-5, volunteers not needed after 3 p.m.

Assist the adults with games, crafts and sing-alongs.


Art Museum: Mrs. Webb @ 832-4580

Coat check and registration at large receptions; reception desk and office work weekday afternoons from 2-4 p.m. and weekends 1-4 p.m.


Center for Speech and Language Disorders @ 530-8551

Help at summer festivals and fairs, painting faces and assisting with arts and crafts; help to decorate the Center itself with murals, etc.


Chamber of Commerce: John Quigley @ 834-6060

For special events only.


Citizens Advocacy Center: Terry Pastika @ 833-4080

Assist in investigating and researching many areas, including: open government; Illinois election code; local government; local courts; consumer law; cyber law; civic education; health care; and more.


City Centre: Carole Thorpe @ 993-1600

Assist with special events such as Cool Cars Under the Stars, Oktoberfest and Bootiful Saturday.


DuPage County Area Project: John Medcraft @ 671-8000

Working with other teens in Glendale Heights, assisting with supervised and planned organized activities. Must be in high school to volunteer. Training is provided.


DuPage Prevention Partnership: Rick Hastings @ 510-3638

Mentoring in Neighborhood Resource Centers throughout DuPage County. Assist with small group and one-on-one activities; homework help. Must be between 15 and 21 years old. Training is provided.


DuPage Senior Citizens Council: Roberta Frye @ 620-9794

Elmhurst Chore Days


Easter Seals: Sarah Velascoat @ 620-4433

Various opportunities from January to March to work with children and young adults with physical and developmental disabilities under qualified supervision. Activities include gymnastics, water activities and Enchanted Castle outings.


Extended Care Center: Mary Ann Hutchins @ 834-4337

Visit with clients; help with bingo on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m., Fridays at 2 p.m. and Saturdays at 1:45 p.m.


Feed My Starving Children @ 539-5480

Help pack food for children.


Garden Club: Carolyn Ubriaco @ 832-0525

Help with the Garden Walk in July posting flyers, selling tickets, staffing the boutique table and performing musical programs.


Historical Museum: Jennifer VanHaaften @ 833-1457

Help with Family Drop-In Day crafts and other special events.


Knuepfer Guest House and Edith Bruckner Guest House:

Spend time with senior citizens assisting with various activities, including cards, bingo, board games, telling stories, sing-a-longs, taking walks/wheelchair rides, and more.


Meals on Wheels: Roberta Frye @ 620-0804

Summer driving to deliver meals; kitchen help to package foods.


Memorial Hospital, Volunteer Services:

Deliver flowers; transport patients to radiology; filing; mailings; working on nursing units.


Elmhurst Park District Volunteer Coordinator @ 993-8924

Special events, carwash fund-raisers for the skate park, assisting with younger children, summer camps, Junior Leaders and Leaders in Training programs.


Public Library: Raita Vilnins or Petra Hollibaugh@ 279-8696

During the summer, assist younger children in reading program. During the school year, reshelve paperbacks, keep the books in good order, general assistance to the librarians.

Occasional mailings, campaign help, walking in parades.


St. Thomas Hospice: Kay Hammer @ 856-6990

In Burr Ridge. Must be 14 years old and complete a 3 1/2 hour training session.

Interact with the hospice clients in a variety of ways.


Senator Dan Cronin's Office: Barbara Finn @ 941-0040

Occasional legislative help; assistance with mailings.


Senior Homes Sharing: Linda Richman @ 790-4088

Volunteers needed to take photographs for crafts; cook for and eat with the seniors; take a walk with or run an errand for a senior; help with spring or fall outdoors clean-up or landscaping.


Symphony Association: Carol Josepowicz @ 941-0202

Set-up help on Wednesday nights; special events.


Volunteer Center of DuPage: Judy Medici @ 784-3781

A clearinghouse for volunteer opportunities throughout DuPage County.


Walk-In Ministry: IC Food Pantry , Carol Yesko @ 530-3497

Office hours are 10 am to noon.

Need groups to assist in food pantry periodically.


YMCA: @ 834-9200

Assist with pool activities and babysitting.


York Convalescent Center: Jenny Mallory @ 530-5225

Art projects; transporting seniors within the site; decorating; sing-along; bingo; socializing with the residents.


Don't forget to contact your neighborhood church about day care or babysitting needs.

York Students: Don't forget about Service Learning Hours!
