About Your Detector
The Elmhurst Fire Department requires that each home be outfitted with carbon monoxide detectors, in addition to smoke detectors. If your carbon monoxide detector is activated, call 9-1-1. A fire truck will be dispatched to your house that has the appropriate equipment on board to test the air in your house to make sure that it is safe. It is very important to make sure that the air quality is not dangerous and the fire department is happy to carry out this function.
