Incident that occurred at 8:58pm on Wednesday, June 29th

At 8:58pm on Wednesday, June 29th, 9-1-1 dispatch center, DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM) received a call reporting that a person who was having trouble breathing was located in front of the Adelaide Parking Deck. DU-COMM misinterpreted the location of the call and dispatched Addison public safety forces to a location in Addison, Illinois. Once the error was recognized, Elmhurst public safety forces were dispatched at 9:08pm. Elmhurst Police Officers arrived at the scene at 9:10pm and the Elmhurst Paramedics arrived at 9:12pm. The patient was transferred to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital.

DU-COMM is a joint dispatch center that services 39 public safety agencies. It is a service that is not controlled by the City of Elmhurst or the City's public safety operations. DU-COMM is currently investigating this incident and will be taking corrective action to prevent this type of incident from happening in the future.

Elmhurst Fire Department Welcomes New Firefighter!

The City of Elmhurst is pleased to announce a new addition to our Fire Department with the hiring of a new firefighter. The new firefighter was selected under the City of Elmhurst Board of Fire & Police Commissioners thorough examination and interview processes.  
During a swearing in ceremony on June 28th, Mayor Steve Morley welcomed firefighter Patrick Evoy to the City of Elmhurst, and thanked him for his pledge to protect the community.
