    Have a fun-filled time at York High School’s swimming pools on select Sundays. This free program is part of a cooperative agreement between Elmhurst School District 205 and the Elmhurst Park District. Lap swimming, open swim and diving boards will be available.

  3. Freedom: A History of US

    January 12, 2018 - March 11, 2018

    The evolving concept of freedom and its pursuit is explored in this touring exhibit from the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, illuminating critical figures and events from our nation’s birth until 1968. Highlights include: reproductions of a rare 1776 printing of the Declaration of Independence, a secretly printed draft and official copy of the U.S. Constitution, Lincoln’s handwritten speech notes, and letters by Frederick Douglass, Susan B. Anthony, and Martin Luther King, Jr. The exhibit is supplemented with Elmhurst materials including a 1924 KKK rally flyer, manuscripts related to the Elmhurst Fair Housing Ordinance, and correspondence from veterans from the Civil War and WWI eras.

  4. Gertrude Abercrombie: Portrait of the Artist as a Landscape

    The dream-like imagery and enigmatic paintings by Gertrude Abercrombie include spare interiors and illusionary landscapes. Her works, which were historically important in Chicago, have been referred to as “psychic self-portraits”.

  6. Nature vs. Nurture: Then & Now

    Watercolor paintings by Elmhurst College graduate, Randi Holt, inspired by her wild backyard. Ceramic works by local artist, Cecilia Dohra. Both are members of the Elmhurst Artists' Guild. Meet the artists at the opening reception Feb 2, 2018, 7 - 9pm, free to the public.

  7. AAUW February Meeting - Amelia Earhart

    Actress and scholar Leslie Goddard, Ph.D. will present her dramatic portrayal of Amelia Earhart, the first woman aviator to pilot herself across the Atlantic Ocean. This program is co-sponsored with the Elmhurst Public Library. AAUW members do not need to register for this program.
