The City of Elmhurst Communications department is dedicated to providing information to residents and visitors, keeping them informed on City programs and services. Communication outlets include:

The Front Porch Newsletter, is published quarterly and mailed Citywide. It communicates seasonal topics, including safety tips, reminders, events and programs that are relevant to the quarter. (Delivered by mail, pdf posted to Elmhurst.org).

The City’s E-Newsletters is emailed weekly, typically on Friday afternoons. It allows the City to notify residents of timely information on a weekly basis. (Delivered to email subscribers, posted on Elmhurst.org, and shared on social media). SIGN UP HERE!

We use News Alerts from Elmhurst.org as needed to distribute non-emergency information, introducing the community to news from the City. (Posted on Elmhurst.org, emailed and/or texted to News Flash subscribers, shared on social media). SIGN UP HERE!

Our Advisory Alerts include unplanned news that alert the public of an event, incident or occurrence within city boundaries. SIGN UP HERE!

Elmhurst ALERTS emergency notifications are reserved for use when our public safety team needs to alert the area of an incident requiring community members take action. We are able to target these notices to specific areas of the City. (Subscribers of Elmhurst ALERTS may receive the message via phone call, email or text message). SIGN UP HERE!

The City of Elmhurst Calendar of Events is located on the City’s websites, elmhurst.org and ExploreElmhurst.com. The calendar not only includes City organized events, but also events from non-profit organizations.

The City’s social media channels include Facebook & Twitter. City managed pages inlcude: City of Elmhurst, Elmhurst Police Department, Elmhurst Fire Department, and Elmhurst History Museum. Most of the news posted in the communication outlets mentioned above are then shared to the City of Elmhurst social media pages.

Elmhurst Connect is a citizen engagement tool, allowing community members to report a concern and quickly find answers to common questions. Requests go directly to the appropriate staff and the requester receives real-time updates, improving the City’s overall customer service and transparency. Explore Elmhurst is a campaign designed by the City that provides an all-access guide to community events and activities. Explore Elmhurst is also used as a promotional marketing tool for local businesses. The City’s Explore Elmhurst Express free trolley service is a program that was created through this campaign. Elmhurst TV  is our local-access cable television and YouTube Channel. Elmhurst TV produces local programs like Elmhurst parades, concerts, museum exhibits, City Council meetings, and more. The streamed service can be found on elmhurst.org, YouTube, Comcast Channel 6 and AT&T U-verse Channel 99.

Water Smart provides the community with a secure, web-based portal with your hourly and historical water usage, as well as leak notices which can save you money. You can also set water-use alerts, based on your preferences, at any time. This service is part of our commitment to provide you with the best tools to manage your water use and bill. ElmhurstHistory.org: The Elmhurst History Museum is an award-winning regional history museum founded in 1957 and operated by the City of Elmhurst. The museum engages people with history through its extensive collection and archives, enlightening exhibits, and diverse educational experiences.
